In a major development in the Patna Hospital murder case, five people, including key accused Nishu Khan, have been arrested from a guesthouse in Kolkata. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to eight so far. The arrests were the result of a joint midnight raid conducted by the Kolkata Police STF and Bihar Police STF in the Anandapur area of Kolkata. The accused had travelled from Bihar by road and were hiding in two rooms which they had rented using their own identity cards. One of the accused, Tausif, used his own name to sign the guest register, which has been seized by the police. The arrested individuals are being questioned and will be produced in a Kolkata court to secure a transit remand for their transfer to Bihar for further investigation.

YSRCP MP Midhun Reddy has been arrested in Vijayawada by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with an alleged Rs 3200 crore liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh. He is accused of causing a severe loss to the exchequer and undue use of power. According to the probe, he is considered one of the core conspirators. The allegations include the use of kickbacks to fund the 2024 elections, with the transcript stating, "him along with several others...had been accused of using kickbacks to fund the 2024 elections." Charges have been filed under several sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The arrest followed the rejection of his bail pleas by the High Court and Supreme Court.
